N72 Fossa

The Sorensen project team has made great progress in recent weeks on our N72 Fossa project in Killarney. The quality of the workmanship and finishing is commendable, keeping up Sorensen’s tradition of delivering high quality projects for all of our clients. The works include a reduction in carriageway width to permit new cyclist and pedestrian facilities, pavement improvement works, soft landscaping, new drainage infrastructure, extension of the public lighting system, new kerbs, new pedestrian crossings and provision of landscape features. The works also comprise of the construction of a shared surfaced plaza within the centre of the village.

We wish to thank the local community of Fossa and the road-users for their cooperation and patience during the works. Thank you to our client, Kerry County Council, for their support and collaboration throughout the project. Well done to the Sorensen project team for their efforts in delivering this project safely and on time.

Challenge21 in aid of the Down Syndrome Centre Cork

We were honoured to support Challenge21 2025 in aid of the Down Syndrome Centre Cork.

This year’s Challenge 21 was a tremendous success, raising an estimated €80,000 through corporate partnerships, community fundraising, and the inspiring efforts of all participants.

At Sorensen, we were proud to play a small part, ensuring the safe and smooth passage of runners and walkers through our M28 Ringaskiddy Road Scheme, where our team is currently active on site.

To the team at the Down Syndrome Centre, thank you for your valued partnership and the important work you continue to do in the community.

Dinish Wharf Project Throwback

This prestigious project was located on Dinish Island, Castletownbere, Co. Cork. Our valued client, the the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine, set out to double the workable quay space within their busy Dinish Harbour. The project resulted in an additional 2.2acres of highly usable reclaimed quay storage areas, 215m of new quay wall, two new major breakwaters at the entrance to the harbour providing much needed shelter, dredging to the navigation channel, the new berth, inner basin and the synchro-lift making the boat yard more accessible for larger vessels. A shallow inner basin was also constructed for a small craft harbour to the benefit of small fishing vessels and leisure craft.

The Sorensen site team overcame many challenges on this project, not least of all the construction of the breakwater sheet piled cells during a challenging winter period. The marine team worked diligently under the supervision of our vastly experienced Directors, Louis Keating and David Sorensen, to constantly appraise and adjust the temporary works design to ensure that the cell construction was delivered safely.

We are delighted to see that Dinish Harbour is thriving since the Sorensen Marine Team handed over the Dinish Wharf Extension Project in 2022.
